China Is Cracking Down On Lamborghini Sales To Stop Lavish Spending

China Rich Kids

NEW DELHI (Reuters) - Italian car maker Lamborghini will struggle to find another China as sales of its super sports cars in the world's biggest auto market have hit the skids due to a government campaign against conspicuous spending.

Automobili Lamborghini SpA, owned by Germany's Volkswagen AG <VOWG_p.DE>, however, sees long-term potential in the nascent Indian market and hopes better-than-expected sales in the United States, its biggest market, will offset the China sales slowdown, Chief Executive Stephan Winkelmann said.

"Unfortunately, there are not so many Chinas around the corner. And China for us is a challenge right now," Winkelmann told reporters in New Delhi.

"Still it's a big market, it's our number-two market. But I think, you know, as much as I know about the local policies, and what the government is doing, for the time being it is a little difficult to buy these type of goods."

Lamborghini sales in China grew steadily in recent years to about 230 cars last year, making the country the 'fighting bull' brand's second biggest market after the United States.

Sales of the car are expected to be around 200 this year, said Winkelmann, who was in the Indian capital to launch Lamborghini's second dealership in the country.

The China slowdown is due in part to the new political leadership's campaign against lavish spending and graft.

Super luxury brands, such as Lamborghini, are seen as especially vulnerable to the crackdown on lavish spending as pricey sports cars have come to symbolize corruption in China.

"It was an incredibly rising market for three years when out of nowhere it came to number two market. To answer very clearly, there is no other market which, in this period of time, can grow in this sense," Winkelmann said.

India Potential

Global luxury carmakers are piling into India, Asia's third-largest economy, and recent high-profile launches include the Jaguar F-Type, whose price starts at about 14 million rupees ($226,000).

But high import duties, with tax on some luxury cars exceeding 100 percent, as well as potholed and congested roads in major cities are a challenge for luxury car makers like Lamborghini, which expects to sell more than 20 cars in India this year, up from 17 in 2012.

The base model Lamborghini in India starts at $370,000.

Annual sales of luxury cars in India stand at just about 1 percent of the total car market, compared with around 7 percent in China.

Although the Indian economy has slowed over the last year, luxury carmakers see tremendous growth potential in the country, which, according to the Boston Consulting Group, had 164,000 millionaire households in 2012.

"This is an opportunity we see for our future. And we hope that sooner or later, in terms of taxation, in terms of infrastructure, this is going to be easier to market, and then you have the opportunity to grow in numbers," Winkelmann said.

The luxury car sales in India is expected to rise to 41,339 in 2018 from an estimated 16,524 this year, according to LMC Automotive. China's luxury vehicles market is expected to rise to 1.5 million in 2018 from an estimated 800,364 this year, it said.

In an effort to raise sales that far lag emerging Asian rival China, the German big three of Mercedes-Benz, Audi AG <NSUG.DE> and BMW AG <BMWG.DE> are trying to win buyers outside the ultra-rich with locally-made hatchbacks and smaller cars.

The bet seems to be paying off, with Audi reporting a 19 percent rise in its January-August sales, while Mercedes said its sales rose 32 percent in the April-June period, helped by the launch of its compact A-Class model.

IHS Automotive forecasts Lamborghini will sell 44 vehicles in India in 2018.

"(Taxation) is a challenge for the super sports cars. The traffic, the road conditions. I remember first time I came to India, it was very different. So I think that there is a huge effort which is done, but still, but it is a small market, and taxation is not helping us as I said," Winkelmann said.

Watch 100 Lamborghinis Make A Hairpin Turn In The Pouring Rain

It's not often you'll see 100 Lamborghinis in the same place, much less such a nice cross-section of the many generations and styles of the famed Italian supercar brand's automotive excess.

Here, you get more than 100 of them, scooting at varying velocities around a mountain hairpin turn. In the rain.

And while there are several classic Lamborghinis in the mix here (including Diablos, Countaches, and Miuras), there's also what appears to be a rather large percentage of the world's population of Aventadors.

The speeds aren't all that high, for the most part, but the sounds they make are music to a gearhead's ears.

New Video Shows What The Fastest Lamborghini Gallardo Ever Can Do On The Track

At the Frankfurt Motor Show a few weeks ago, Lamborghini introduced the fastest Gallardo ever. Monday, it posted this video of the car on the track.

The Squadra Corse has the same 5.2-liter V10 engine as the Blancpain Super Trofeo race car from which it's derived. And it's street-legal.

So it's no shocker that it looks better in motion than sitting still on a stage.

Watch, drool, and envy the few people who'll get their hands on one:

1. Renault 4 (1961-1992)

renault 4

THE EXPERT: Adrian van Hooydonk
Head of design, BMW Group

THE ENDORSEMENT: "I used to own one. It's a fairly boxy thing, but I appreciated it for that."

THE BACKSTORY: Introduced in 1961, the 4L, as it's also known, embodied the kind of versatility taken for granted by RAV4 and Escape drivers as one of the first economical, durable hatchbacks.

THE COST: They're rarely seen in North America, but excellent European examples range from $3,000 to $5,000—expect to pay an equal amount in shipping, however. Also make sure you're getting the left-hand-drive French "La Quatrelle" version, not a U.K. model.

2. Buick Riviera (1965)

buick rivieraTHE EXPERT: Ian Callum
Design director, Jaguar

THE ENDORSEMENT: "It was a very beautiful, very singular design. One of [GM styling icon] Bill Mitchell's best. There was something almost Italian about it."

THE BACKSTORY: Known simply as The Riv by cultists, this model represents the car's high-water mark for design—it came with distinctive clamshell headlamp covers and cleaner body lines.

THE COST:It's $18,000 for a model in decent shape, with the top-line Gran Sports commanding more than $50,000 at recent auctions.

3. BMW 3.0 CSL (1972-1975)

Design manager, General Motors

THE ENDORSEMENT: "It has great structure and proportion. It feels like the car's body hangs off that distinctive tapered shape, which is masterfully executed."

THE BACKSTORY: The CSL was based on the already trim, elegant CS and is regarded by many collectors as the most beautiful Beemer of all time. Mid-century American modernist Alexander Calder lent his aura to the brand, putting his brush to a CSL race car in 1975.

THE COST:A prime 1973 street model recently went for $70,000.

4. Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale (1967)

Alfa Romeo 33 StradaleTHE EXPERT: Filippo Perini
Design director, Lamborghini

THE ENDORSEMENT: "It was a car that was never quite celebrated. Designed by Franco Scaglione, it remains for me one of the most beautiful sports cars ever."

THE BACKSTORY: The most expensive car in the world when it debuted in 1967, this 230-horsepower beast weighed just 1,500 pounds. Despite a bold design, the exorbitant cost doomed it to commercial failure, and fewer than 20 were made.

THE COST: A fortune—if you can find it. A prime 33 Stradale will fetch well more than $3 million at auction.

5. Smart Fortwo (1998-2013)

smart fortwo discoTHE EXPERT: Max Wolff
Design director, Lincoln

THE ENDORSEMENT:"Its industrial-design aesthetic was an attempt to redefine the small car."

THE BACKSTORY: Designed by Mercedes-Benz parent Daimler with input from watchmaker Swatch, this tiny two-seater is known for its interchangeable, boldly colored body panels.

THE COST:Little-changed since the car's debut in 1998; a new model will cost you around $13,000.

The Convertible Version Of The Most Insane Lamborghini Ever Will Cost $4.5 Million

$

lamborghini veneno roadster_100443602_l (1)

The first images and details for Lamborghini’s new Veneno Roadster have hit the web.

The car is the convertible version of the Veneno coupe first shown at the 2013 Geneva Motor show, which was limited to just four examples in total.

But unlike the coupe, Lamborghini is planning as many as nine Veneno Roadsters, each priced at a cool 3.3 million euros  (approximately $4.5 million).

News of the Veneno Roadster first broke as early as July and the car was confirmed by Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann just one month later.

Now we have the details on the open-top version of a car originally built to celebrate Lamborghini’s 50th anniversary, showcase the potential of the automaker’s design team and explore new avenues in lightweight construction.

Apart from the roofless design, the Veneno Roadster is virtually identical to the coupe, much in the same way that the Aventador, with which the Veneno shares its underpinnings, is much the same as the Aventador Roadster. Power comes from Lamborghini’s familiar 6.5-liter V-12, which in Veneno spec has been tuned to deliver 740 horsepower.

This edge over the Aventador’s 691-horsepower rating means the Veneno is Lamborghini’s fastest and most powerful road car to date. Lamborghini claims the Veneno Roadster will accelerate to 62 mph from rest in 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 220.5 mph, the same as the coupe.

While roadsters typically weigh more than their tin-top cousins, heavy use of carbon fiber elements keeps the Veneno Roadster's weight from creeping upwards. The car’s dry weight is 1,490 kilograms (3,285 pounds), which isn’t bad considering it's packing an all-wheel-drive  system. Gear changes are handled by Lamborghini’s unique ISR automated manual ‘box.

The lighter weight of the car is thanks mostly to its carbon fiber construction. In this department, Lamborghini is showcasing its unique forged carbon production method where short pieces of carbon thread are mixed with resin, placed into a heated mold and then cured under high pressure. The new process can produce a part in as little as three minutes, greatly reducing the manufacturing time compared to traditional carbon fiber components. The Veneno Roadsters brakes also benefits from carbon ceramic discs.

Oh, in case you were wondering, that color is a new hue dubbed Rosso Veneno. It’s exclusive to the Veneno but we can see it being offered on other models further down the track.

Thanks to AutoEmotionenTV for sending in the tip.

The Latest 'Gymkhana' Driving Video Features A Wrecking Ball And Lazy Lamborghinis

"Gymkhana Six," the latest edition of the stunt driving series starring Ken Block and a souped-up Ford Fiesta, was released this morning.

The latest installment isn't quite as fun as the second one, which now has more than 42 million YouTube views, but it does dispense with the over-the-top craziness of the fifth installment, which sent Block flying through the streets of San Francisco.

The fat is trimmed, but there's still plenty of silliness. Block makes his Ford Fiesta ST RX43 2013 dance around a moving, spiked wrecking ball, and there's more than enough slow-motion and aerial views to keep things interesting.

The disappointing bit is the role of the Lamborghinis. Teaser photos made us think the Fiesta might be going head to head with the supercars, but the Italians are used only as obstacles for Block to drift around. They do slowly roll forward, making that drifting a bit trickier, but they could have been replaced by aging elephants, for all their speed (actually, elephants would have been a lot cooler).

Last Lamborghini Gallardo and Assembly Line

After 10 years in production an just over 14,000 units, the last Gallardo — the best-selling Lamborghini ever —  has rolled off the Sant'Agata Bolgonese assembly line.

After its debut at the 2003 Geneva Motor Show, the Gallardo marked a turn for Lamborghini, as the Italian automaker cranked up its production rate, from about 250 cars per year to around 2,000.

That's why the Gallardo is the best-selling model in its history — the company made a whole lot more of them than of anything else.

In 50 years, Lamobrghini has built about 30,000 cars, 14,022 of them Gallardos. Over the past decade, there have been a wide range of special versions with names no one can keep straight. We've seen the Gallardo Spyder, Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera, the Gallardo LP 570-4 Spyder Performante, the Super Trofeo Stradale, and the Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse. Each has been very cool, very powerful, and very fast.

We're sorry there will be no more.

The last unit built is a Gallardo LP 570-4 Spyder Performante in Rosso Mars (red), and is being purchased by a private collector.

The $4.5 Million Lamborghini Supercar Made Its Public Debut On An Aircraft Carrier In Abu Dhabi [PHOTOS]

After its March debut at the Geneva Motor Show, Lamborghini's completely over-the-top Veneno supercar made its official public debut on Sunday. To make sure the setting matched the car, the event was held on an Italian aircraft carrier, docked in Abu Dhabi.

Only nine units of the Veneno Roadster will be built, starting in 2014, and each will cost €3.3 million euros ($4.5 million), before taxes.

So what do you get for all that money? A somewhat absurd-looking car that comes with 750 horsepower, enough to go from 0 to 62 mph in under three seconds. You do not get a roof, but we believe Lamborghini when it promises "an intense driving experience."

Fabio Cannavaro, former captain of Italian national soccer team, got to sit in the Veneno:

The local fire and rescue chief told The New Straits Times that the drivers were unhurt, and two fire engines arrived about seven minutes after the crash. Witnesses say one of the cars hit the road barrier, then was hit by the two other cars.

The Aventador and two Gallardos, part of a convoy en route to Kuala Lumpur, were worth a combined $2.22 million, according to Yahoo! News.

Someone Bought A $200,000 Lamborghini Using Bitcoin

Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse stephan winkelmann frankfurt motor show 2013

For the second time in the past two weeks, someone purchased a high-end luxury car using Bitcoin. This time, the buyer happened to be a 4chan user.

The 2014 Lamborghini Gallardo was purchased sight unseen from a dealership in Newport Beach, Calif., Tuesday.

The buyer, from 4chan’s technology board /g/, spent 216.8433 bitcoins—or $209,995—on the yellow supercar.

This information was found on three official documents from Lamborghini Newport Beach which were leaked online. The only person to have access to these documents are the buyer and the dealership, marketing director Cedric Davy told me this afternoon. And the dealership wasn’t the one to leak them, he added. (Click to enlarge.)lamborghini gallardo bitcoin purchase

“It was a little surprising to us,” Davy, 33, said. “It’s interesting thing because after the first transaction, it’s something for us that went viral in a way we weren’t even considering. We got a lot of phone calls from people with interest in buying with Bitcoin.”

At the bottom of the third image there is 64 character long transaction number, e71a70ea0bdf3b510ec0a50d3119b6f36577af0390ee0b916f92a46c114db135. This number matches perfectly with what was posted on 4chan’s auto board /o/ Tuesday by the alleged buyer.

lamborghini gallardo bitcoin purchase

While the bill of sale is official, Davy added that the transaction will not be completed for about 72 hours. This is the time it takes for Bitpay, a third-party Bitcoin payment service, to verify the Bitcoins. Only after that happens will the identity of the buyer be revealed to Lamborghini Newport Beach.

Lamborghini Newport Beach made international news last week when it became one of the first luxury car dealers to accept Bitcoin as payment. The first car they sold to a a buyer waving a digital wallet was the Tesla Model S for 91.4 Bitcoins.

Since that purchase, and the subsequent press, the dealership has received about 20 serious calls about people interested in purchasing cars with Bitcoins.

On a typical month, the dealership sells five new cars and about 15 used.

Considering Bitcoins meteoric rise in popularity, that will likely change.

“The first one was a surprise but now we’re a little bit more prepared,” Davy said.

Here's Lamborghini's All-New Supercar — The Huracán

$

Lamborghini Huracan LP 610 4

Just a few weeks after the very last Gallardo rolled of the assembly line, Lamborghini has given us our first official look at the car that will take its place: the Huracán.

Continuing a tradition, the name comes from a famous bull who fought in Spain in 1879, "showing his unrelenting character and remaining defiant and invincible, thus entering into the legend of fighting bulls' history."

No doubt Lamborghini hopes the supercar will do the same.

From the photos and details released today, it's off to a good start. The Huracán is designed from scratch, and the first version, the LP 610-4, is powered by a 5.2 liter V10 engine that generates over 600 horsepower. It will go from a dead stop to 62 mph in 3.2 seconds, and top out at 201 mph.

In terms of style, it's unmistakably a Lambo, and not a big departure from the looks of the Gallardo.

But the supercar market is crowded with excellent offerings from Ferrari, Lamborghini's traditional rival, as well as McLaren, Porsche, and Aston Martin. So we'll have to see how the Huracán handles on the road — and how much it costs — before finding out how it will compete.

The Gallardo was introduced at the Geneva show in 2003, and saw a production run of 14,000 units. Those make up half of all Lamborghini cars ever made.

The brand new supercar will make its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, but Lamborghini will host private viewing parties for "qualified prospects" starting in January.

First deliveries should start in the Spring of 2014. Pricing has not been announced.

The V10 Engine In The New Lamborghini Huracán Sounds Glorious

$

You just saw the reveal of Lamborghini’s Gallardo-replacing Huracán LP 610-4, and now hear its engine start in this new video.

The video, posted on YouTube by our friends at AutoEmotionenTV, shows the exhaust tips of the latest Lambo supercar just as the ignition is switched on and the car, a silver example, is driven out of what looks to be a studio.

The video recorder's microphone isn’t the best quality but you can clearly hear the distinct sound of the Huracán’s 5.2-liter V-10.

The engine, a revised version of the V-10 fitted to the Gallardo, develops 601 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. The engine benefits from direct-injection technology and in the Huracán is paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission Lamborghini is calling the Lamborghini Doppia Frizione (LDF).

Hop behind the wheel of the Huracán and keep your foot to the floor, and you’ll accelerate to 62 mph in just 3.2 seconds, pass 124 mph arrives in 9.9 seconds and finally max out somewhere close to 202 mph.

Deliveries of the Huracán commence shortly after the car’s world debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show in March.

2013 Has Been An Incredible Year For Supercars

McLaren P1 supercar Extreme Heat Test

2013 has been a big, wonderful year for supercars. Lamborghini, McLaren, Ferrari, and others were all at the top of their games, producing over-the-top cars priced for millions of dollars.

Covered in carbon fiber and going from 0 to 60 mph in under three seconds, these rides make the average Mercedes S Class owner look like Scrooge McDuck.

Here's a look back at the best cars the vast majority of people will never spot on the road, let alone drive or own.

Let's start with the best. This year, the McLaren P1, the long-awaited successor to the F1 (in its day the fastest production car on the planet) finally hit the road. All 375 units of the $1.15 million beauty have already sold out — no surprise, considering the P1 is one of four production cars to run the famed Nurburgring-Nordschleife circuit In under seven minutes.

2013 marked 50 years of Lamborghini, and the Italian automaker kept itself busy to mark the occasion. The owners of nearly 350 cars got together for a tour of Italy, at the end of which Lamborghini revealed the absurd, single-seat "Egoista" concept car.

In the closing weeks of the year, we saw the last Gallardo ever roll off the production line and the unveiling of its successor, the Huracán. The company also officially debuted the totally over-the-top Veneno— on an aircraft carrier in Abu Dhabi, of course. Lambo will make only three units of the Veneno, but it will sell each for $4.5 million, before taxes.

lamborghini veneno aircraft carrier

Back in January 2013, deliveries of the Pagani Huayra finally got going. The $1.2 million supercar comes with a hand crafted twin turbo V12 engine that will send it from 0 to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds. The instrument cluster looks like a jet's cockpit and each side view mirror is like "a woman's eye looking back at you,"in Jay Leno's words.

2013 pagani huayra

Ferrari had quite a good 12 months as well. It rolled out its most powerful and fastest production car ever, the stupidly-named LaFerrari. All 499 units, worth $1.4 million each, sold out earlier this month. And not just anyone could buy one — Ferrari North America CEO Marco Mattiacci told us prospective buyers should have 20 to 30 Ferraris in their collection to be considered as customers.

Also this year, Ferrari's 458 Italia made its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, greeting visitors with the ability to go from 0 to 60 mph in three seconds flat.

ferrari laferrari supercar

Porsche didn't go crazy in 2013, but it did give us a good look at the terrific 918 Spyder. The plug-in hybrid generates a whopping 770 horsepower, and it circled the Nurburgring-Nordschleife in an incredible 6 minutes, 57 seconds — the best time ever for a production car.

2015 Porsche 918 Spyder

Not every supercar came from a well-known automaker. The Chinese-Italian Icona Vulcano was the star of the Shanghai Auto Show in April, then made a splash at Pebble Beach this summer. Out of the Netherlands came the Vencer Sarthe, a mid-engined ride with a 6-speed manual transmission.

Bugatti spent most of 2013 celebrating itself with a series of special edition Veyron Grand Vitesse cars, each dedicated to a man from the automaker's history. The bad news is that it's nearly time to say goodbye to the Veyron, the fastest production car on the planet: Bugatti announced earlier this month there are only 50 units of the model left for sale.

2005 Bugatti Veyron 16.4

Of course, supercars are no good locked up in some secret millionaire's underground garage. So we give thanks to the police of Dubai, who assembled a ridiculous fleet of cars to chase down bad guys. They've got a Lamborghini Aventador, Ferrari FF, Aston Martin One-77, and a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG — supercars so awesome we almost wouldn't mind being arrested just to ride in one.

In the market for a new home? Perhaps you should consider the Damac Maison building on Dubai's Mall Street.

Splurge a little and opt for one of the penthouses, because you'll be rewarded not just with an amazing view but with a car as well.

That's right, the Damac real estate and building company is throwing in a vehicle for you. We're not talking about a new Corolla here, either.

Spend a very large amount of money on some new digs, and you'll be rewarded with a 2014 Lamborghini Aventador Roadster. That should help instantly add about $500,000 to the value of your property anytime it's parked on-site.

WATCH: Hennessey Chevrolet SS Hits 163 MPH On Texas Toll Road: Video

This sounds like a hell of a "giveaway", but it's par for the course for the Damac team. In the past, Audi vehicles were part of a move-in special with penthouse buyers getting an R8, while three-bedroom buyers received an A8. If you bought a two-bedroom property you got an A6, and the one-bedroom units came with an Audi A4. Damac typically gives away high-end offerings with its high-end listings, and these have even ranged from the aforementioned cars up to boats and planes.

No word yet on what the cost of a penthouse will be once it's completed. We imagine it will be a bit more than the cost of the car, of course.

Here's How Lamborghini Delivers A $4.6 Million Veneno Supercar To Its New Owner

There are only three Lamborghini Venenos that will ever reach private hands--Lamborghini is hanging onto the fourth example of the 740-horspeower, 220-mph hypercar for its own purposes. So what you’re about to see is a very rare sight: the delivery of a fresh Veneno to its lucky owner.

Filmed by duPont Registry, the event is rather less dramatic than you might think, with Veneno #2 arriving at Kris Singh’s home on Miami Beach on a flatbed truck. After that, however, the passion and desire behind Singh’s $4,106,000 purchase becomes clear.

MUST SEE: Watch 900-HP Trucks Bomb Down A Snow-Covered Mountain: Video

It’s well worth the watch, if only to learn how Singh was able to buy the ultra-exclusive Veneno, and why the only customization Singh did with the car was to select green trim (from a palette of white, red, or green).

You might be wondering: What’s the first thing Singh did with the car after delivery? He drove it to a South Beach restaurant for dinner and parked it right up front.

Naturally.

Lamborghini’s Gallardo-replacing Huracán is a surefire hit, with the Italian sports car manufacturer racking up 700 orders in just one month since the car first went on sale. To put into perspective just how big of a deal 700 orders for the Huracán is, last year Lamborghini sold just 2,121 cars in total. Of course, there’s been plenty of pent-up demand for the new raging bull as its predecessor was on the market for 10 long years.

Lamborghini has been quietly showing off the Huracán to VIP clients around the world. We’ll be getting our first look at the car’s global debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show on March 4. It will be the first car unveiled at the Swiss show, and Lamborghini also plans to use the event to present its first official video of the car, which was filmed recently on the streets of Los Angeles.

The new Lambo's full title is Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4, and it comes powered by a 601-horsepower version of the 5.2-liter V-10 fitted to the outgoing Gallardo. In the Huracán, the engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission which has been labeled the Lamborghini Doppia Frizione (LDF).

Hop behind the wheel of the Huracán and keep your foot to the floor, and you’ll accelerate to 62 mph in just 3.2 seconds, pass 124 mph in 9.9 seconds and finally max out somewhere close to 202 mph.

Pricing and availability for the U.S. market will be announced later in the year.

The Lamborghini Huracán LP 610-4 is just days away from its debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show but the car has already been presented to potential customers where it managed to rack up 700 orders in just one month.

Even if you have little chance of affording its six-figure pricetag, you can still pretend that you’re one of those potential buyers by loading up Lamborghini’s new online configurator for the Huracán.lamborghini huracn lp

You can get all the vital stats as well as play around with the color options (pictured above is the Huracán in Verde Mantis). You can then choose a particular wheel pattern and the color of the brake calipers to finalize the car's exterior look.

Then it’s time to move on to the interior where you can fiddle with items such as the color of the trim, the type of steering wheel and whether or not you want Lamborghini’s logo emblazoned on the seats.

Once complete, if you are in the position to buy the Huracán, now would be the time to contact your local Lambo dealer and place your order. Given the popularity of the car thus far, wait times may be long.

Future owners have a lot to look forward to, though, as the Huracán LP 610-4 comes with a 601-horsepower version of the 5.2-liter V-10 fitted to the outgoing Gallardo. In the Huracán, the engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission which Lamborghini calls a “Doppia Frizione”. The 0-62 mph sprint will take just 3.2 seconds and top speed is said to be around 202 mph.

Full pricing and availability for the U.S. market will be announced later in the year.
